birthdays recently, but belle's on saturday wraps up the last for the year!
(well amongst us at least!)

caramel cafe (that's Hairloom & Caramel for liz) for dinner where most of us ordered the same.
smoked salmon spaghetti with lemon cream sauce, and honey lemonade for me. though the pasta was seriously neverending on my plate, it was pretty good, and i might say i made the right final drink choice. ((=

apparently without tengz around, the conversation flow is more streamlined.
from rick, to carebear tattoos, and back to rick again.
we also now know that of all of us, liz and jas are more inclined to remove inner wear in the middle of the day, while belle and fiona are willing to store and carry other people's inner wear around in their bags. liz is also more open to the idea of sharing her bag for such purposes, but jasmine is definitely not.
so if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to remove a garment, and have nowhere to keep it, you know not to look to jasmine for help.

after a bunch of cup-birthday-cakes, we followed the timbre-for-drinks plan.
which incidentally, was the plan for belle's birthday 2008 as well!
yet again, liz's magical car can fit 7 people (without use of the boot) but since we couldnt make reservations, the queue took forever.
so to dubliners we headed instead.
they dont have service charge there, but still, that's no excuse for terrible-est of the terrible-est service. HAI!
in any case, only one thing was on jasmine's mind. she wants to live in winsland house. or regency house. or well, basically any other house than the one she currently lives in.
no scared face from fiona this time round, but plenty to spare from liz!
apparently rocking back on your chair legs frightens her, since her reputation of falling in her youth.

i think i like this mode of the BBF best.
no masks, complete exposure of the entire film strip, including sprockets.
makes it a tad expensive though, but i guess thats ok.

the first 400 roll ive shot on slides - FAIL.
way way way too many overexposed shots.
i think i will be sticking to 100 films for now.

when the world spins.

i had a whirlwind of a time the past few days.
kaki bukit, toa payoh, bukit timah, changi airport, singapore expo, marina barage, orchard, jalan kayu, seletar.. ive been around the world and back.
its been a lot of driving, and a lot of going round in circles.


when the world spins too fast, everything collapses.
but at least i went places.

bbf in thailand

last december, i ran off to thailand on my own for a much needed escape.
i never did get to posting anything about the trip, as always happens with me and my holidays. neither did i get to putting up any photos, again, as always.
in fact, i finally got my film developed last week, after lots and lots of much needed pushing. and after more nudging they are finally up on the web somewhere.

i used the square mask on the bbf for the rolls, hence the black strips at the top and bottom. (the rest of the rolls on fb.)

that's most of PI, apart from Denise, Jacky and fir (who were actually all there, but not in the field of vision haha). taken during lunch at Canteen B just yesterday, when fir was fooling around with the panoramic function on his phone. pretty cool pic of all of us huh.
note my empty chicken/roast pork rice plate. which is what i usually eat there unless ive just eaten it the day before. its just convenient laaa.

it's not the new year..

well at least that was according to fiona.. BUT, fully endorsed by liz herself!
liz's actual birthday itself saw the debut of her now famous mantra:

all of us (minus sickie fiona) burst out laughing at XWHKC!
also, best day ever for jas and belle, cos the place was playing Jay album after album. and everyone was bopping/swaying/singing along.

the weekend before her actual day saw an afternoon of karaoke at liang court, before heading down to dinner at the singapore flyer in style and comfort.



fiona finally had her crabs at seafood paradise, where we were the only non-family diners! but hey, we always have a family photo taken!

HAHAHA jasmine's new brownie story is that she is smitten with his new do! the wistful look on her face when she's describing it. priceless!

part 2 of belle's birthday celebration (before i run off to her motherland) saw us at where else but timbre, after tons of convincing and promising that we were NOT going to sabo her!!

i cant think so coherently right now, but here are the usual highlights.
(pals, if i missed anything please feel free to add!)

1. fiona almost got killed when some ang moh dude tried to squeeze in the leedle space between his friend's huge ass and the back of fiona's chair. with an ultra frightened face, she thought about what would happen if she fell forward into the pizza and wings, knocking over her drink which would flow towards me, and causing the (high and very shaky) to topple over with her weight and motion, thereby crushing me in the process. ok she stopped short of thinking about my death, but you know thats what would have happened. haha.

2. everyone comes to timbre for their birthday. seriously, the number of people with cakes and songs and wishes. being the lousy pals we are, we had no cake. so we joined in every birthday song we heard, and cheered woot woot!! just for belle haha. plus she was made to pretend blow out pretend candles on the pizza.

3. i wore heels today cos i was at liang court for a work event, and in turn got SHUNNED by jasmine!! who refusedddd to walk next to me! that aside, there was a lingerie show at the event and hellooooooooooo!! best thing ever! there was one damn nice ass i swear i am in love! (only steph would understand la!)

4. my friends asked if im secretly lesbian. oh dear. but haha ok la its quite funny. anyway do you guys realise that i can no longer go to CHIJMES?! oh so saddd!

5. there was no GAM TING NGOR. nor the killers, nor mika, nor the darkness, nor the white stripes! instead, they were replaced by ABBA (dancing queen), ABBA (take a chance), AHA (take on me), BSB (dont know the song sorry), and a few more similarly appalling songs. helloooo?!?! what is up man?! needless to say, belle was crushed.

december rolls around..

seriously, i need to get into the groove of posting again. shit.
im totally at the brink of losing my once reliable calendar of past events!

so october and november were really crazy months with lots of going out for me, what with the birthday, then uma being here, then the birthdays, then supposedly going to bkk and then being stuck here, and then now im going again!
plus maybe i got into this thing about going out all the time and not going home.. cos i really havent been home much, just always needing to find things for myself to do - i SWEAR, this is part of my mid-life crisis.

THIS long weekend, however, has been really quiet for me.
im not quite sure if i had planned this, or if there was just nothing to be doing, but i was home all weekend. im quite amazed at myself.
well ok except for a couple of lil outings at night both saturday and sunday.
(tried out old town cafe just near cheong chin nam and my wife's place - the food is really quite good!!)

its really rare for us to get THREE full days of no work, esp since we work saturdays as well. and this monday was seriously the perfect day to sleep in. what with it being cold and rainy all. omg. i had SUCH a hard time getting out of bed!!

lunch with the girls at central (though i had mom's beehoon instead)- marutama ramen for jas, belle, fiona and maq, and waraku for liz and ray.. because.. well because it just turned out like that haha. after our long and late lunch, i headed off to kenny's shop, fiona and maq went christmas shopping, and the rest went off to karaoke.

twas an eventful first week of december earlier with:
1. kenny and karen at their exhibition closing near great world (but not before lugging ten ton bags to my colleagues at liang court)
2. ugly cuscaden beer place that steph doesnt like with belle and fiona where we saw a JNah lookalike and where some dude pointed at belle and said 'you look cool!' hahaha doesnt this remind you of steph and that guy in cambodia jas?
3. pasta shop at wheelock with jas and belle, then mccafe where jas screamed and took a picture of the GROUND along the way
4. belle's drinks at zouk HAHA i love you
5. beers at siem reap in holland village with jas and fiona where we had to FU2 jas across the road to take a cab home!

with christmas just around the corner, everyone is totally scrambling with christmas shopping! its really quite funny how someone mentions some things they dont mind getting, and everyone is just jumping to chope that item!! hahaha hilarious. ok liz, no socks this year! haha!
